Beauty is as Beauty does / Idioms
Somebody’s beauty sleep
1) The sleep that someone needs in order to feel healthy and look attractive (humorous): If you don't mind, I'm going to bed now. I have to get my beauty sleep. — Если вы не возражаете, я уже пойду спать.
2) In some cases, the sleep before midnight: Dinny looked amicably at the dark shingled head and went out again. No good spoiling beauty sleep! (J. Galsworthy, ‘Maid in Waiting’, ch. XXXVII) — Динни дружелюбно взглянула на стриженую голову с темными волосами и снова вышла. Вредно нарушать ранний сон.
3) Daytime sleep: There was nothing to do in the office and I thought I'd get in my beauty sleep while I had the chance. — На работе нечего было делать, и, раз представилась такая возможность, я решил немного поспать днем.
(I've) got to go home and get my beauty sleep
Fig. a phrase announcing one's need to depart because it is late: Sue: Leaving so early? John: I've got to go home and get my beauty sleep. Jane: I've got to go home and get my beauty sleep. Fred: Well, you look to me like you've had enough. Jane: Why, thank you.
